A three-day long ‘Bondhu Mela’ observed at Kapasia, Gazipur

The 'Bondhu Mela' (Bondhu Fair) hosted by the Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) at Khaled Khurram Bari Ground, Banar Hawla, Kapasia, Gazipur, from January 9th to 11th, 2023, aimed to spread awareness about climate change and promote various climate-friendly initiatives of BONDHU. In collaboration with Kapasia Union Parishad, Gazipur, this three-day event saw the presence of Ms. Simin Hossain Rimi, MP, from Gazipur-5 Constituency as the chief guest during the inaugural ceremony. The event was presided over by Dr. Eng. Khalequzzaman, program manager of Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) and president of Bashori- A Nazrul Center. 

The fair commenced with traditional activities like a stick game and captivating cultural performances by Bashori artists. Renowned reciter Tito Munsi presented "Bidrohi," while Bashori artists delivered captivating renditions of Nazrul's compositions and showcased a docufilm titled ‘Rajbandir Jobanbandi’.

The following day featured a Nazrul Music Competition and enchanting drama performances by the Bashori Leto Troupe. Two dramas titled 'Chashar Song' and 'Puratan Balad Notun Bou' composed by poet Kazi Nazrul Islam were staged. The day culminated with captivating renditions of Nazrul Sangeet by Bashori artists and a performance of a drama titled 'Swami-Strir Jhogra' penned by poet Nazrul.

The concluding day witnessed a Kabadi competition, followed by a cultural performance involving students from Kapasia Government Pilot High School. Later, Bashori Leto Troupe staged a drama titled 'Chashar Song'. A prize distribution ceremony recognized winners of various competitions, and the event wrapped up with artistic presentations of an interesting drama titled 'Bou er Biye’ (Wife’s Marriage) by Bashori's Leto Troupe.

Throughout the fair, stalls from Bangladesh Bondhu Foundation (BONDHU) and Bashori showcased their activities. Besides, various entrepreneurs presented their organizations' products, contributing to the diversity of the event.

The Bondhu Mela came to an end with a closing ceremony graced by Mr. AKM Golam Morshed Khan, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Kapasia, Gazipur, serving as the chief guest on January 11th, 2023.
